Today is your day to dive into the PADI Open Water Diver course, the most popular dive program in the world!   As a certified PADI Open Water Diver, the most widely recognized and respected rating in the world, you have the freedom to dive with a buddy independent of a professional.

What do you need to start?
Virtually anyone who is in good health, reasonably fit, and comfortable in the water can earn a PADI Open Water Diver certification. You must be older than the age of 14 to begin the PADI Open Water Diver program. For those of you who are not above the age of 14 and would like to participate in the PADI Open Water Diver Program, then the PADI Jr Open Water Diver program is available to you. If you are between 10 and 14 or have a child between these ages, there is a PADI Junior Open Water Diver program available.

Oh, behave!  Keep your head up and play by the rules.  Here they are in black and white and blue.

You don't need to be an athlete, but you should be in good overall health.  Mentally, you need a mature attitude, good judgment and the self-discipline to follow the guidelines and principles required for safe diving.

Before starting any water skills, your coach and instructor will have you complete a Medical Statement.  If any of the conditions listed apply to you, as a prudent precaution, your instructor will ask you to consult a physician before participating in any water activities.

The information you put on the medical form will remain confidential.  Because it identifies medical conditions that may be affected by diving, for your safety and health it's important that you complete it completely and accurately.

To become a scuba diver, you need to be comfortable in the water and have basic swimming skills.  During the scuba lessons your coach will have you do some swimming and floating - nothing extreme (200 yards and a ten minute float), just to determine you have basic swimming abilities.

Beyond Cool Blue Scuba, there's a whole underwater world out there!  It's interesting, exciting and fun.  If you have an appetite for excitement and adventure, odds are you can become an avid PADI diver.

Reward comes to those who choose to explore new frontiers and conquer their fears.
